Summit Sportsplex: Community Sports Website Design

Summit Sportsplex is a Roanoke, Virginia sports facility with a mission that goes well beyond what happens on the court. They work with schools, nonprofits, community organizations, coaches, and local leaders to give more young people access to sports, mentorship, and opportunities to grow.

Unlike a typical website redesign, Summit was a newer organization without an established website or visual brand system. They had a logo and a big vision. Our job was to help turn that vision into a brand and website that could clearly communicate what Summit was becoming.

Defining What Summit Is About

One of the biggest challenges was positioning. Summit offers high-level sports training and events, but as the organization evolved, its bigger purpose became increasingly clear: using sports to strengthen the community and create opportunities for kids who might otherwise be left out.

The website needed to make that mission immediately apparent while still giving athletes, families, community organizations, partners, and sponsors clear paths to the information meant for them.

Building the Brand and Website Together

Because there was no established visual style beyond the logo, we developed the overall look and feel of the brand alongside the website. The goal was to create something energetic and sports-focused without losing the warmth and accessibility of Summit's community mission.

We also built the messaging and site structure around that purpose. Community Access, training, partnerships, sponsorship opportunities, and inspiring events each have a clear place, while Summit's five standards of Character, Commitment, Courage, Confidence, and Compassion help connect everything back to youth development.

A Foundation for What Comes Next

The finished website gives Summit a clear home for both sides of its mission: creating great sports experiences and making those experiences more accessible.

Just as importantly, the site gives a growing organization room to grow. Summit can now highlight new programs, recognize community partners, attract sponsors, promote upcoming opportunities, and continue telling the stories of the people and organizations making an impact across Roanoke.
